Myerscough Dressage 🏆
Hello,
Saturday 18th March the Dressage was on at Myerscough and so we decided to give it a try! I’d never competed there before so it was a new venue for me and Ced and knowing the international arena is quite spooky I was a little nervous🙈
First of all it was Intro A which we have done numerous times and I use it as a warm up test for him so he’s seen the arena and had time to settle but to my shock horror both of his tests were in different arenas!! The collecting room was a bit on the small side and quite busy so he was rather tense warming up so I spent a lot of time walking and doing lateral work. When I went in for my test I felt my self tense slightly and rode with washing line reins knowing full well I was doing so but didn’t actually do anything about it!! I was pleased overall as it was a new place and he was a star! We got joint 1st with a score of around 72%.
Next was Prelim2, this test is quite complicated and has 18 movements in it! I thought it would be a challenge however I thought sometimes it’s good to push your self so off we went and gave it our best shot! I was really pleased with his trot work but the canter was a little bit of a train wreck haha! He wrong legged one of his transitions and then the canter after was a little flat so I thought it would have been a respectable score but out of the placings. Off we went to load him and we were so shocked at the fact Cedric walked straight on the trailer like a normal horse!! Anyone that’s followed our story will know this is a huge achievement and a long way from the horse that wouldn’t load after hours and hours🙄😬
I hung round to get my score and was genuinely shocked when I checked and saw Courtney Monks -1st
He had won by a 4% gap on a score of 69.85%!! This was the cherry on the cake and just made our day! Lots of apples and kisses for Ced and we were off home!
Courtney
