Which equestrian event is best for shopping?

While most major trials like Badminton and Burghley have incredible “shopping villages,” Your Horse Live in November is widely considered the ultimate shopping event. If you can’t wait for show season, you can enjoy that same superstore experience year-round at our Oakfield Saddlery location near Preston, where we stock all the major brands in one place.

What should I wear to a horse trials event?

British weather is unpredictable! We recommend the “layers and loaders” approach. Start with a breathable base layer from LeMieux or Ariat, add a waterproof country coat, and most importantly, wear comfortable, waterproof footwear. 

Do I need to book a fitting for a riding hat or body protector?

While we always welcome walk-ins at our retail facility, we recommend calling ahead if you are visiting during a busy weekend. Our staff are specialist trained in fitting safety wear from brands like Charles Owen and Champion. Your safety is our priority, and a professional fitting ensures maximum protection.

Are these equestrian events dog-friendly?

Most outdoor events, such as Chatsworth, Bramham, and Hickstead, are very dog-friendly, provided your dog is kept on a lead. However, indoor championships like HOYS and the London International Horse Show generally do not allow dogs (except assistance dogs). If you’re bringing your pup along to an event, don’t forget to check out our selection of dog bowls and coats.
